State Chapter Monthly Meetings

The SEIU State Campaign will begin having regular monthly Union Meetings starting in September.  These will be ongoing opportunities to meet with fellow members, find out what's happening, and plan the next steps in our Chapter's growth.

Purple Brigade Update August 18

Ana Arevalo

Whether you're a State, County or City employee, whether you're a member of the State, Pima County, Tempe, Chandler, Gilbert or Avondale chapter, you have a stake in the outcome of the upcoming Primary election.  In some cases, it's pretty clear that whoever wins the primary will win the General election in November.  That means that the work you do now may mean the difference between elected officials who support public service employees -- and elected officials who don't.

Who Should Lead Our Union?

SEIU members in Tempe will be voting for chapter president on Thursday, August 21.  Unopposed Chandler Chapter president James Kame will serve another two-year term.

Meet and Confer Agreement Approved on Unanimous Board Vote

The first-ever negotiations between Pima County employees and County management are over.  And we have won a significant victory in a difficult economic environment with the Pima County Board's unanimous 5-0 vote.

State Employees Take Action on the Budget

May 3 Political Conference

In the short time since state employees started building our new union with SEIU:

Hundreds of state members have met with and talked with lawmakers about the budget.
Our Purple Brigade, currently 188 members committed to political change (and growing), is now the largest independent political force in the state and is on the streets every weekend talking to voters about candidates who recognize the value of state workers and who, when elected, will welcome our participation when important decisions need to be made.
We've launched a big campaign to gain the same freedom to form a union and negotiate improvements that employees who work for private businesses and cities like Tempe and Chandler already possess.

Second Vote Victory!

For the second time in as many months, Gilbert town employees have voted SEIU YES!

Stop Payday Predators
We trust that Arizona voters are smart and won't fall for the deceptive advertising.  They'll understand that a 'yes' vote means 391% interest rates while a 'no' vote means a cap of 36%.  That's an easy choice.
